PepsiCo is on the lookout for an experienced R&D Grain Drinks Project Manager to join our Nutrition team based at our R&D facility in Leicester.

Principal Accountabilities:

· Manage technical aspects of Nutrition Category innovation projects (including new launches, renovation and/or key strategic initiatives) within the Nutrition portfolio to support the Western Europe AOP calendar
· Leverage a combination of functional and business expertise to develop the technical elements of winning consumer propositions that drive sustainable business growth and support the Convergence Drinks Innovation Strategy
· Plan, organise, execute and communicate assigned research and development projects (Calendar Delivery and Innovation Platforms)
· On designated Innovation Projects, project manage product development cycle from ideation to launch to meet agreed timeline and benchmarks, providing updates to relevant stakeholders when required
· Lead a small team to develop and execute NPD development programme
· Play a key role in the cross-functional projects teams by representing R&D views/agenda. Develop understanding of key Nutrition Science, Regulatory and Food Safety requirements for projects – representing the broader R&D community in meetings when required
· Key strategic role in driving regional Flavour development programme for Grains portfolio (existing, brand maintenance and future programmes)
· Key strategic role (alongside Line Manager / other Lead team members) in building medium term Grains Adjacencies Innovation Strategy to drive future growth within the Region
· Coordinate overall scale-up activities in plants by liaising closely with relevant internal and external partners
· Understand and demonstrate application of consumer product testing, sensory, analytical and other relevant tools to deliver superior products in line with optimum product design
· Demonstrate effective use of available planning tools and processes to schedule work activities and goals with minimal supervision. Collaborate with peers to secure and organise shared resources for project goals
· Leveraging expertise inside and outside the organisation to deliver product and process development solutions
· Up to 20% travel internationally


Essential Skills Required:

· Holder of Masters’ Degree in Food Science or related discipline or equivalent
· Significant experience in multi-national FMCG R&D, product or technology development roles essential
· Experience in leading and managing product development of dairy/grain convergence low acid products essential
· Knowledge of Low Acid Thermal Processing procedures and Food Safety considerations a distinct advantage
· Experience in co-developing and managing technical developments with external 3rd party co-manufacturing partners
· Experience in leading the technical development of flavours for use in beverage applications
· Passion for creativity and innovation within a commercially driven environment
· Strives for high standards, seeks innovative solutions, drives continuous improvement of products and processes and demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail
· Deep understanding of Food Science, Food Engineering and Manufacturing
· In-depth analytical skills to interpret complex data and distil into meaningful information e.g. interpreting consumer insights, experimental design and statistical inference
· Strong project management skills to effectively drive a complex project portfolio across different markets
· Strong presentation skills (written & verbal)
