Job Description

Main Purpose – what is the main objective/purpose of the role?

The purpose is to support the plant management in ensuring that all processes flow smoothly without breakdowns.
Key Challenges:

  • High seasonality requires close monitoring of mechanical equipment so that there is no breakdown
  • To maintain relationships with vendors to garner their support specially during urgent requirements
  • To ensure asset reliability and productivity
  • Capability development
  • Drive TPM culture in plant.
1. Business Agenda
  • Maintenance of line equipment(, filling machines, blowing machines and others )
  • Maintenance of the utility equipment(air compressor, boiler, pumps)
  • Repair and maintenance expense monitoring, control and budgeting
  • Monitoring and controlling utilities cost (Water, Power, furnished oil)
  • Managing the inventory for spare parts
  • Vendor development for imported spares to reduce the cost
  • Maintaining overall productivity at more than 80 to 90%
  • Maintaining the industrial statutory compliances in electrical and boiler installation
  • Maintaining of utility equipment’s and breakdown analysis.
2. People Agenda
  • Ensuring the growth and development of the people reporting to this position via learning activities and training
  • Providing a healthy environment that encourages empowerment and diversity
  • Maintaining the high motivation among the team
  • Capability development of Maintenance technicians and Equipment operators
  • Resolving the grievances in the team
  1. Communicate and execute schedules
  • Provide overall shift leadership and decision support for mechanical maintenance function
  • Communicate and execute maintenance schedule
  • SAP
  • Indicate and reduce Scheduled start / stop time
  • Approve manpower requisitions and ensure as per budgeted template. Seek approval for requirement over
and above budgeted allocation.
  • Indent for spares.
  • Emergency controller for a shift
  • Execution of mock emergency drills
  • Review run wise LP (NE), Yields from ODS
  • Work with maintenance to schedule planned maintenance
  • authorize shift change of associates in consultation with GS coordinator
  • Ensure continuity in shift
  1. Lead occupational safety in the plant
  • Issue Permit to work for activities
  • Record and investigate injuries
  • Identify unsafe conditions through planned inspections (e.g.: malfunctioning, wet floors, unguarded
machinery, hot surfaces, sharp edges, unprotected working platforms, bare/loose wires, etc.)
  • Counsel people following unsafe work practices (Stop unsafe practices)
  • Risk Assessment in relevant areas, Work place inspection, check Machine guarding, implement Permit to Work, Lock out and Tag out (LOTO) usage and ensure PPE usage
  1. Lead line performance improvement in production
  • Analyze operational (day-to-day) performance issues and discuss in daily department review
  • ‘Hands-on’ training of team for SAP compliance
  • Reasons for drop in LP (NE) through Pareto analysis of downtime
  • Investigation of drop in yields
  • Fluctuations in production productivity
  • Identify energy loss and water wastage in lines
  1. Manage TPM circles in production
  • Health check of TPM circles
  • Schedule compliance of CLI standards (step 3 tentative standards) < 95%.
  • Weekly review with circle leaders
  • Monthly review and progress update of Circles to Manager
  • Kaizen / OPL R&R review panel
  • B2B training of associates and officers. Evaluation of skill progression by individuals.
  1. Drive high quality people processes for Officers in shifts in production
  • Drive officer engagement through periodic connect and R&R
  • On- boarding of associates
  • Shift scheduling of associates
  • Provide guidelines for leave planning for associates
  • Approve Associate leaves
  • On - boarding of associates in shift operations
  • Grievance Handling for associates during the shift
  • Reporting of Disciplinary issues
  • B2B trainings of Associates and Officers and also evaluate multi skill progression
  • Drive officer engagement through periodic connect and R&R
Document CAPA (corrective and preventive action) plans related to
  • All Injuries, LTIR, ISR
  • Line Quality KPMs
  • Maintenance Plan compliance
  • LP (NE)
  • Yields
  • Water consumption
  • Production productivity
  • Production breakage

  • R&M budget.
Discuss improvement plans with maintenance Manager / Plant Manager and provide resources to line officers


Experience and Qualification

  • B.Tech. / B.E. (Mechanical) with at least 4-6 years of experience preferably in the FMCG sector
Skills and Behavioral Attributes
  • Hands on exposre in line equipment , Boiler, compressor, refregration plant maintence
  • Exposure to vibrastion analysis , preventative and predectuive mainteace.
  • Lubrication enginneirng.
  • Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills
  • High levels of persuasion and facilitator skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • High level of confidence & ability to carry himself
  • Strong focus on delivery and results with high drive and energy levels
