Job Description

Packaging Engineer in the Gatorade Packaging team, part of Global Packaging & Engineering Technology group. Support the development and execution of new and refreshed package forms across the range of package materials and structures (bottles, closures, cartons, and flexible etc.) used within North America Sports Nutrition (NAB/NAN)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring all primary packaging component specifications contain up-to-date information including approved raw materials, supply sites, and design.
  • Coordination of external resources to accomplish objectives
  • Maintain open communication and build strong relationships with multiple functions
  • Develop technical understanding of primary package items, production processes, and variables
  • Support quality troubleshooting and problem solving. Provide technical support for field issue resolution
  • Support new packaging development and execution to support delivery of the Gatorade Innovation Strategy, by creating "go to market" solutions that deliver product effectively via multiply distribution techniques
  • Must maintain a current understanding of packaging technologies within Gatorade plants and co-packers, as well as technology developments within the packaging industry and ensure strategies incorporate those developments to optimize overall system cost and efficiency.
  • Develop technical understanding of primary package items, production processes, and variables
  • Support quality troubleshooting and problem solving. Provide technical support for field issue resolution
  • Support the technical qualification process for changes to component and finished good specifications for all primary packaging items within Gatorade

Qualifications/Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • BS in Packaging Science, Chemical, Mechanical, or Plastics Engineering
  • Minimum of 2-4 years work experience within food/beverage packaging

Other Job Requirements:
  • Travel mainly in North America, however international travel may be required to meet project and business objectives. 20-30% total
  • Occasional weekend travel is normal due to time required to travel to certain locations
  • Can be based in Downtown Chicago or Barrington
  • No Relocation Assistance Available
