Job Description

Network Operations Specialist is responsible for the ongoing support of PepsiCo’s Network and lead network partners to provide 24x7 support with deep experience of networking and voice platform technologies, routing & switching, Avaya, Skype, and Cisco Call Manager; and strong background in network performance management, IVR, voice operations, and strategic operations planning for refresh/upgrade activities. .
The Specialist is also responsible for providing proactive insight and making strategic recommendations for Network enhancements; ranging from bandwidth and equipment upgrades, through design changes in partnership with the Network engineering and technical architecture teams. Central to this role will be partnering with sector operations leads on defining strategic recommendations and roadmaps in line with business strategies.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience of networking technologies, such as routing, switching, wireless networking, and security; and will also have a strong background in network performance management, service delivery and strategic operations planning. This position will be a single conduit for a business sector to manage escalations, drive changes and continuous improvements, improve vendor relationships and engagement, and provide dashboard reporting to senior IT leadership on network KPIs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage network service providers and matrixed resources
  • Develop and maintain a three-year network operation plan to drive investment and continuous improvement strategy
  • Provide Network Operations requirements to Engineering and Architecture to support strategic business/IT initiatives and for budget planning
  • Refresh heat-maps and operations plans for data center networks, campus networks, and all WAN, LAN, and WLAN connectivity
  • Monitor and analyze statistical data to develop improvement plans for network and application performance
  • Provide an effective network capacity plan in partnership with Network Capacity team
  • Develop and monitor sector weekly and monthly trending reports by business sectors to justify future growth
  • Partner with Application teams to drive standards for optimal network performance
  • Provide tier-3 (expert level) operational support to resolve critical business issues that require deep network troubleshooting techniques and performance analysis
  • Oversees the management of service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors and service providers
  • Oversees and directs all aspects of the 24/7/365 mission critical network/telecommunication infrastructure operations; including planning, supporting, and maintaining functions
  • Exercises leadership and management of matrixed technical teams tasked to support network services at 1000+ sites
  • Serves as the senior-level escalation point for network operations to resolve critical incidents
  • Maintains policy and procedures manual, conducts monthly service review meetings with key stakeholders, and drive vendor governance in partnership with IT supplier relationship management leads
  • Provides leadership, direction and technical oversight for the network operations department
  • Serves as a mentor in guiding the development and growth of staff, promoting application of network operations best practices; fostering a proactive attitude and encouraging innovation; and reinforcing contributions and commitment in line with PepsiCo’s corporate values



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or related qualification
  • 5+ years of experience in voice and VoIP architecture and support
  • Avaya/Cisco/Microsoft Voice certifications is a plus
  • Minimum 8+ years of working in a Network / Telecommunications role, with expert level experience with MPLS, SIP, IP, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, VPN, Firewalls, etc technologies
  • Extranet, Firewall, Load Balancer configuration
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural, virtual team, across multiple geographical regions
  • Commercial and technical service delivery management experience
  • Excellence in execution through proper prioritization of projects and initiatives
  • Ability to develop solutions within a complex operational environment
  • Strong project management skills and experience of coordinating of multiple, simultaneous complex tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Advanced knowledge of technical/business environment and problem determination strategies
  • Develops and maintains standard operating procedure manual and processes used by the team
  • Provides appropriate budgets and reports for Network Operations activities to the Operations Director (e.g. headcount, financial, services availability, SLA compliance, capacity planning, etc)
  • Certifications is a plus (CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE)
