PepsiCo’s Global Office of Sustainability is committed to leading the way in providing strategy development, communication & coordination of PepsiCo’s sustainability platform. One critical area of focus will be environmental sustainability is sustainable packaging. This role supports delivery of PepsiCo’s Performance with Purpose Goal “Design 100% of its packaging to be recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable, increase recycled materials in its plastic packaging, reduce packaging's carbon impact, and—in partnership with the PepsiCo Foundation—work to increase recycling rates by 2025.”

Role Summary:

The Sustainability Analyst, Packaging Sustainability, will be accountable for developing and supporting programs that ensure that PepsiCo meets its packaging sustainability goals and external commitments while continuing to maintain the desired economic and social value proposition for the business. This role will be accountable for developing and implementing solutions related to the collection, management and strategic utilization of data that help drive delivery of environmental sustainability and performance against PWP 2025 Planet goals. Position location is flexible and can be based in Chicago, IL, Plano TX or Purchase, NY. Cannot be virtual

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, update and maintain a global database for packaging and packaging recyclability to support packaging sustainability and inform product innovation and supply chain decision-making
  • Develop, update and maintain the protocol and documentation for packaging scope, definition and decision making
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to capture/maintain packaging data and best practices and leverage it for presentation and external requests
  • Support Packaging Director and Commercialization manager to deliver on PepsiCo’s packaging goal
  • Act as first point of contact for packaging sustainability inquiries
  • Provide cross-functional project leadership across Global R&D, Operations, Procurement, Global Sustainability, PepsiCo Design Function, Consumer Insights, Sales, Marketing, Legal, and Supply Chain

Qualifications/Requirements

Critical Competencies:

  • Broad knowledge of packaging materials and general understanding of science and technical terms and concepts
  • Analytical thinking - this is a must
  • Experience working collaboratively across a matrix organization
  • Self-starter who takes initiatives and delivers the right results
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Teamwork
  • Strong project management, Excel and PowerPoint skills - This is a Must
  • Communication/Presentation skills - this is a must
  • Attention to detail

Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Sciences or related field with 7+ years in related Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) field
  • Master in Business or Engineering a plus
  • Previous experience in the development and execution of complex programs
  • Effective leader in cross-functional project teams
  • Experience working with CPG companies and global experience a plus
  • No Relocation Assistance Offered
