Job Description

The User-Centric Design (UCD) Strategist will lead all aspects of UCD by providing expertise and guidance to deliver a user experience loved by all. The ideal candidate obsesses with user experience with relentless attention to detail. This role will lead a team comprising of employees and contractors to engage HQ and field stakeholders to deliver user-centric sales and service solutions loved by all.

Define the UCD/UX (User Experience) mission, vision, strategy and roadmap

  • Engage and empathize with diverse stakeholders to understand opportunities
  • Build a masterful understanding of our end-users and their pain points through leading research efforts and be the voice of the endusers
  • Collaborate to define and communicate a clear UCD/UX mission, vision and strategy
  • Deliver an integrated UCD/UX roadmap that balances user desirability, functional viability and technical feasibility
  • Define quantifiable ways to measure success and adoption

Implement the UCD/UX strategy using various tactics
  • Plan, conduct and synthesize research using standard methodologies and tools (e.g. surveys, contextual observation, interviews, focus groups, affinity maps, personas, archetypes, empathy maps, experience briefs, etc)
  • Analyze data, generate themes, build insights and develop ideas
  • Prioritize ideas using techniques like the Kano model
  • Visualize ideas using low fidelity to high fidelity techniques. Ex: post it notes, sketches, story boards, wireframes, mockups, prototypes
  • Drive an integrated agile and UCD/UX governance process by interacting with product management and product development teams to ensure design tradeoffs are being discussed and documented
  • Ensure development teams practice UI consistency by leveraging a style guide and a shared component library
  • Balance UI best practices, aesthetics and user research with data and analytics when making design decisions

Continuously improve and take others along
  • Encourage progressive thinking and the pushing of boundaries
  • Define a UCD/UX education training program
  • Conduct usability and heuristic tests to ensure the user experience is positive and continuously improving
  • Continuously measure design effectiveness and processes and implement changes as needed


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design
  • UCD experience and/or Lean Concepts
  • Ability to think strategically then execute tactically
  • Ability to lead, engage, and influence HQ and Frontline stakeholders on new ways of working
  • Demonstrates empathy and can effectively identify pain points
  • Understands SAFe or similar agile development methodology
  • Ability to understand and communicate business and technical issues
  • Ability to simplify complex problems creatively, manage risk and influence rapid decision-making
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse teams and empathize with others
  • Makes local tradeoffs while optimizing the holistic system
  • Data driven with strong analysis skills
  • Embraces change and able to navigate through ambiguity
