Role:
- This role provides leadership and strategic direction for the Giangzhao G&C lab and the Sganghai Analytical Science laboratories delivering smart data and insights to ensure quality standards for beverage and snacks as well state of the art analytical solutions and insights in support of all Po1 R&D activities led out of Shanghai. The role liases with partners across the R&D organization, PGCS, Operations consumer relations and others, to understand the needs of their respective teams and establishes ways of working to deliver smart testing solutions as well as building a sustainable organization which embraces new technology and capability needs aligned to business strategies.

Accountabilities:
- Proactively and collaboratively work with all R&D categories for work lead out of/ executed Shanghai to deliver technical insights for AOP and D&A programs. (Role is accountable for decision making, consultation and executing actions)
- Proactively and collaboratively work with PGCS , Quality and Operations and leverage smart testing principles to deliver analytical and sensory testing to monitor, report and troubleshoot on in-trade beverage for AMENA. Further, provide method deployment and method support for QC beverages. (Role is accountable for decision making, consultation and executing actions)
- In collaboration with Measurement Sciences leadership, Quality and Operations build and execute a plan to monitor, report and troubleshoot for in-trade snacks (AMENA) quality parameters, as well as method deployment and support for QC (AMENA) (Role is accountable for decision making, consultation and executing actions)
- In delivery of all analytical/technical output ensure the team is focused on the right priorities and working to aligned roles and responsibilities. In doing so continuously look to drive new ways of working and assess new technologies and capability needs to enable smart testing (Role is accountable for decision making, and executing actions)
- Continue to build the capability of the team to deliver smart technical insights in alignment with PepsiCo’s strategic plan and build a talent pipeline for sustainable succession planning. (Accountable for making decisions and executing) (Impact: HR)
- Build/maintain a network of AMENA external experts/laboratories for consultation and identification of complimentary collaborative research and/or core, non-core testing opportunities to deliver on D&A and AOP projects in an effective manner (Decision making and executing actions) (Impact: External technical experts)
- Effectively collaborate with peers across the Measurement Sciences organization and other R&D teams to propose and drive for harmonization and implementation of best practices (Making decisions, execute actions and provide consulting) (Impact: Measurement Sciences, R&D categories, QC)
- Build and justify capex and AOP plans. (Accountable for making decisions and executing) (Impact: Finance and Global procurement)
- Ensure correct documentation of all experiment, research reports, correct method validation and ensure effective data back up, applying the principles of ISO 17025. Ensure up to date business continuity plans are in place (making decisions and executing) (Impact: BIS and PSI teams)

Qualifications/Requirements

Requirements:
- Strong technical background such in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry or equivalent (BSc, MSc)
- Strong leadership skills with at least 6 years of laboratory management including management for remote sites
- Deep knowledge of analytical testing as applied to beverage and snacks products and their ingredients.
- Knowledge of sensory and microbiology methodology is highly desirable
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 principles
- Problem solving skills, having demonstrated excellent critical thinking
- Ability to work in ambiguous environments
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to explain technical outcomes to non-technical people
- Proven ability to work effectively across multiple functions, cultures and multiple levels of a matrixed organization
- Work location could be either Shanghai or Guangzhou
