Role:
- The microbiologist, reporting to AMENA Sr. Manager/Principle Microbiologist, will be working in the microbiology labs in PepsiCo Asia Research & Development Center at Shanghai. The microbiologist will ensure the good implementation of PEP, national and international standard microbiology test methods, good operation of microbiology labs (SOPs), good transfer and implementation of PepsiCo’s specific microbiology test methods, and good connection with key customers as a daily micro SME. The microbiologist will contribute in AMENA innovative research and product development initiatives from Microbiological POV.

Accountabilities:
- Carry out PEP/national/international standard microbiological tests on foods, beverages, concentrates, and ingredients
- Transfer and implement PepsiCo’s specific microbiological test methods on foods, beverages, concentrates, and ingredients
- Design, carry out and report the results of microbiological challenge studies / thermal resistance studies of foods, beverages, concentrates and food ingredients
- Effectively support TPA projects
- Lab SOP maintenance and update where necessary
- Support on microbiological training programs
- Support Principle Microbiologist to provide micro insight to NPD from microbiology POV
- Ensure the safety of microbiology labs, support lab Quality Systems program and participate in check sample programs
- Ensure the good instrument conditions by providing proper maintenance under the support from vendors
- Supervise and coach 3rd-party employees to conduct the microbiology tests
- Involve in the lab admin works, such as consumables purchase, equipment and facility maintenance

Qualifications/Requirements

Requirements:
• Technical skill
- Solid and strong hands-on laboratory microbiology skills, more than 5 years’ experience in micro lab
- Excellent team playerAbility to design and execute microbiological challenge studies of products and ingredientsTime management skill, problem solving ability and teamwork skill are requiredExcellent oral and written communication skills are requiredMS in Food Microbiology or Microbiology. Minimum of 5 years of relevant food, beverage or consumer products company experience is required
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously on cross-functional teamsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentFunctional computer software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Literacy in both spoken & written English is a must
- Strong knowledge of food microbiological test procedures and good laboratory practices
- Well-developed communications skills, demonstrated by the ability to positively influence both within and outside the organization
