Job Description

This position will serve as a PepsiCo North America Nutrition (NAN) transportation operations resource with a focus on supporting the movement of Gatorade Beverages and Quaker Foods finished goods throughout PepsiCo South/Southeast Regions U.S. Co-pack and Bottler Distribution Channel. Ensure that key transportation service levels are attained to support overall network on-time delivery objectives, while executing against planned productivity initiatives in order to meet or exceed freight cost targets. Support PepsiCo’s annual Truckload RFP event by compiling planned Origin-Destination pairs and respective volumes. This role will report to the South Regional Transportation Managers based in the South Business Unit (Lancaster, TX and Atlanta, GA).

  • Drive successful preparation and execution of finished goods transportation from assigned facilities (Sales Orders, Stock Transfer Orders)
  • Procure freight rates to support sourcing decisions and pricing analysis across NAN Brands (Gatorade, Frappuccino, Lipton, Sobe, Ocean Spray)
  • Perform weekly reporting of Walmart Food and Beverage loads broken down by carrier and report any possible misses that will impact On Time in Full (OTIF) metrics
  • Conduct Enterprise Route Guide (ERG) maintenance to ensure that carrier rates are updated to support operational requirements
  • Manage/monitor critical shipments in support of key NAN product innovation and promotional launches
  • Leverage PepsiCo Supply Chain systems (i.e. SAP, TMS, LDD, Tableau) to actively monitor key Transportation metrics and scorecards
  • Leverage Problematic Lane Analysis to hold all carrier accountable to their awarded commitments
  • Engage key stakeholders (i.e. NAN Transportation Coordinators, PepsiCo Network Coordinators, carriers, copack sites) to drive performance improvement
  • Effectively negotiate “on the spot” transportation rates for ad-hoc moves and ensure rates are submitted according to guidelines
  • Assist in the development and execution of cost saving initiates within the region, assist in the review of carriers and lane performance
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of annual bid process for assigned facilities
  • Resolve exception shipment activity (i.e. unrouteables, late deliveries, trailer seal discrepancies, customer delivery refusals, freeze protection requirements)
  • Coordinate with CASS, carriers, and the South/Southeast Region Transportation team members as needed to research and resolve freight payment issues
  • Collaborate with NAN Transportation team members to drive synergies across network and consistency of approach and SOPs
  • Manage annual freeze protection roll out and seasonal support
  • Engage key stakeholders/field team members with BIB network support as it relates to transportation
  • Perform daily/weekly bottler smoothing reporting in the field teams and proactively look for ways to improve ordering patterns
  • Support payload reporting and initiatives to help drive improvement
  • Collaborate with foods integration into NAN network

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 3+ years of Supply Chain Operations experience required (internal candidates with appropriate experience could be considered)
  • College degree required, preferably in Business/Supply Chain or related field
  • Understanding of the Freight Transportation function, processes, modes, and service providers (Truckload, Less-than- Truckload, and Intermodal)
  • Freight invoice reconciliation and payment experience
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders from a variety of supply chain functions and network sites; strong written and oral communication required
  • Proficiency/experience in key PepsiCo Supply Chain systems (TMS, LDD, Enterprise Route Guide, SAP)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook is required
  • Capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing time-sensitive decisions
  • Capable of working both autonomously and in a team setting
  • Strong problem solving, attention to detail, and technical skills
  • Initiative, a positive attitude, and the ability to manage through change
  • Must be willing and able to travel 20% of the time
