This position will be in the SCCA, so based on experience of the candidate this position could be L6-L9

Provide leadership and coaching to the Electrical and Instrumentation Department team to maintain and insure the reliability of the plant electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment. Support Maintenance and Operations teams to drive improvements in efficiencies, yield, utility utilization, maintenance optimization, quality of job life, safety, and product quality along with other initiatives that support the growth of the business. Ensure coverage of plant operations to prevent or respond to all production issues from E&I system failures.

Provide leadership with the implementation of TPM/continuous improvement philosophy. Drive improvement in plant E&I system to eliminate repetitive or serious reliability issues. Accountable for plant results related to performance of E&I systems. Provide support to E&I team members for removing obstacles, solving problems, setting direction and empowering teams to achieve their performance improvement results. Support site network and communication systems, interfacing with PepsiCo MIS group.

  1. Work with all Operating Departments to maintain reliable manufacturing programs to reduce equipment downtime, increase operating efficiency and improve safety
  2. Plan and implement preventive and predictive maintenance procedures on key equipment. Track results of all PM activities and take ownership for effectiveness
  3. Investigate and assign resources to follow up and resolve plant problems. Attend operating review and response meetings and follow up on key issues
  4. Ensure that all E&I maintenance work is completed in a safe and satisfactory manner. Provide feedback and coaching to team on work performance
  5. Participate on project teams to insure compliance with Tropicana specifications, budget, and project timelines. May manage some small capital projects
  6. Identify / solve problems utilizing focused improvement concepts / tools / teams to reduce variability and improve reliability
  7. Develop / evaluate / modify, procedures, work instructions, job descriptions, as required.
  8. Develop and provide training programs for employees in the areas of improvement tools, problem solving, and process control. Conduct on-going training for Dept.
  9. Interact with and coordinate outside resources including contractors, equipment vendors, and supply vendors for assigned projects
Identify cost reduction / revenue improvement opportunities in all departments. Develop or assist in the development of department budgets. Control costs in assigned area.
  • Responsible for key plant results related to the E&I systems: Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Cost.
  • Must complete maintenance and improvement activities through effectively leading the E&I teams. Measures are PM completion, reduction in downtime, safety and quality tracking systems.
  • Timely completion of items on the daily action item list.
  • Must meet department budget for labor and material costs.
  • Projects completed on time, on budget and meeting success criteria.
  • Feedback from in-plant customers on performance of E&I team.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Three years work experience in a manufacturing or operations role. Food related experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems typical in a manufacturing facilit
  • Demonstrates excellent problem solving skills from root cause analysis to standardization of improvement
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills specifically in leading skilled trades employees
  • Demonstrates knowledge of applicable software (i.e. excel, word, etc.) required
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, required
  • Knowledge and practice of TPM principles a plus
  • Knowledge of food processing and manufacturing desired, but not required
  • Knowledge of liquid fill packaging systems a plus
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems a plus
  • Computerized maintenance management systems
  • Ability to lead process improvement teams, champion and sell new ideas
  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects and actively interact with cross functional teams
  • Knowledge of PLC’s, programming, and instrumentation is required
