Job Description

We are looking for an Operations Technician to join our Valhalla Research and Development Pilot Plant Team. Our team is committed to providing the R&D facility with the highest quality product that meets all safe, stable and legal requirements. The team supports our extensive beverage business, not just in North America, but around the world. Responsibilities include:

  • Working independently or in a team environment to provide assistance to Research Scientists and Engineers on projects to meet business objectives
  • Developing the knowledge to set up, operate, and properly clean-up processing equipment in the pilot plant to support various business units
  • Completes tasks on time and seeks additional tasks and opportunities to assist teammates when time is available.
  • Collect and record all required data (manually or by computer)
  • Operate various powered industrial trucks
  • Support all Health, Safety and Environmental programs and take responsibility for personal safety as well as the safety of your peers
  • Support all Sanitation and Food Safety programs and use Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Track inventory of raw materials, equipment parts and other PepsiCo assets
  • Attend training seminars as required to meet business needs and personal development goals
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Communicate cross-functionally with the Business Units, Warehouse, Purchasing, Maintenance, Analytical, Microbiology, Safety, and Sanitation groups
  • Demonstrates ability to speak and write (phone, e-mail, memos, ect.) in ways that can be easily understood by others
  • Take ownership to provide guidance and direction to temporary staff to ensure safe, efficient utilization of work time

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School equivalent plus 3 to 5 years’ experience in Manufacturing or related Associate Degree with 2+ years experience
  • Ability to establish priorities
  • Computer literacy with basic Word & Excel experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic Food Processing equipment knowledge
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly
  • Willing to be flexible with work schedule and work overtime
