Graphic Designer

A Print Shop Designer predominantly manages print shop timelines, and balances requests while ensuring complete brand integrity. The print shop designer will also be responsible for all of the art manipulation required to meet the graphic needs within the region. The Designer will be responsible for the customization and execution of regional and local Point-of-Sale/Signage. Position will customize and produce a wide variety of printed products while ensuring adherence to all established brand/design strategies and guardrails.

  • Proven Graphics background in corporate setting
  • Graphics education along with corporate experience preferred; With portfolio, will consider field experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understanding of design layouts including a strong visual assessment capabilities
  • Project Management skills, ability to weigh and manage customer expectations
  • Performs multiple tasks at the same time, adhering to strict timelines
  • Produces work in accordance to pre-established priorities of customer projects
  • May conduct finish work, including, cutting, laminating, and binding
  • May assemble parcels and prepare goods for shipping, inserting items into shipping containers, weighing packages, and affixing labels to parcels
  • May deliver customer orders via company vehicle
  • Download art files and maintain location database in a well-organized manner
  • Size and customize artwork in complete and well-marked files that are print ready while ensuring brand integrity and obtaining appropriate approvals
  • Operation of equipment including large format printers, digital press, laminator, creaser, electric cutter, and binding equipment
  • Maintain equipment including resolution of malfunctions, troubleshooting, cleaning, meter readings, and coordinating service calls
  • Maintain all inventory and forecasting of supplies utilizing the correct approved national vendors
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues on all equipment
  • Conducts finish work, including, cutting, laminating, and binding
  • Assembles parcels and prepares goods for shipping, inserting items into shipping containers, weighing packages, and affixing labels to parcels
  • Track waste, spoilage, usage and inventory, and service credits
  • Additional functions incidental to printing and administrative activities

Qualifications/Requirements

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Project Management skills, ability to weigh and manage expectations
  • Knowledge of layout principles, aesthetic design concepts, branding, typography and color theory
  • Possesses the ability to take direction as well as contribute own ideas
  • Responsive and efficient; ability to organize and manage multiple projects adhering to strict timelines in a fast paced environment

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator (CS5 or higher)
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphics production or a related field preferred
    • With portfolio, would consider 5 years in-field experience
  • 18 years or older
  • Pass a drug test and background check
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Ability to move, carry, and lift 60 pounds
  • Ability to bend/twist at the waist and knees on a consistent basis
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
