Job Description

As the Occupational Health Nurse you will be responsible for providing medical aid to employees, conducting safety and health training, developing and implementing health programs, participating in Workers’ Compensation process, Transitional Duty, & Return to Work Programs. You will also be supporting the management and monitoring of medical surveillance programs as well as working closely with third party medical providers. The Occupational Health Nurse is also responsible for complying with HIPAA & Company Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical service for both occupational and non-occupational injury/illness
  • Deliver services to maintain a safe and healthy workforce
  • Participate as first responder for onsite incidents
  • Case management through coordination of health care services from onset of work-related injury evaluation through workers’ compensation injury/ risk/claim management, disability and absence management, return to work evaluation and return to work
  • Coordinate required medical data collection and recordkeeping for reporting injury information to the EHS Department and Company’s insurance carrier
  • Collaborate with the external healthcare providers, insurance carrier, or third-party administrator to improve transitional duty opportunities for returning employees to work
  • Assist in coordination of transitional duty program
  • Work with the broader Health & Safety Team as a key business partner for process improvement procedures/protocols and cost containment
  • Prepare reports and maintain associate health files in compliance with HIPAA
  • Assist in providing health and safety training
  • Serve as a member of the site Emergency Response Team
  • Support DOT driver program management

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Strong communications skills, decision-making, problem-solving, independent nursing judgment, communication and a broad knowledge of general nursing
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
  • Understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, squat, kneel, and work in high elevated areas. Ability to push, pull and carry up to 50lbs. Use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, mouse and care for the employee. Must have the ability to frequently sit and reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to utilize office equipment such as desktop/notebook computers, copiers, printers, scanners, telephones and calculators
  • Must be able to work in manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work in various indoor, outdoor, freezer and cooler climates

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Nursing
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Florida
  • 3+ years registered nursing experience
  • Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) and/ or certification in Case Management (COHN/CM) preferred
  • CPR certification
