PepsiCo Global Engineering is seeking a talented and self-motivated Automation Engineer to help create new as well as apply existing automation solutions that improves overall system efficiencies through the use of advanced technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience conceptualizing, developing, and evaluating electro-mechanical systems with a low cost mindset. This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Global Engineering. The purpose of the role is to provide leadership primarily for the identifying and implementing Manufacturing and Warehouse Automation projects and to enable investments focused on cost reduction across the entire COGs and P&L.

  • Develop, align and deliver automation business case alternative generation
  • Assist sector teams in scope development, RFP execution, vendor identification, economic alternatives, commissioning and startup support where necessary
  • Work with sector finance and Supply chain and the Global Automation business case director to develop an approach to business cases that includes all available impacts in all lines of the P&L and balance sheet for specific automation projects under their control
  • Partner with GP to ensure proper RFP execution, procurement best practices, and negotiated least landed automation cost to PepsiCo
  • Leverage expertise to ensure comprehensive alternative generation of automation solutions, financial impacts, and scope deliverables
  • Stay abreast of new emerging trends and technologies in the Warehouse industry, sharing these learnings with the global automation team to determine applicability
  • Partner with Global and Sector teams that automation scoping is aligned with the business case
  • Insure Sector/market alignment to, and adoption of, the Global Warehouse programs, tailoring prioritization of the programs to each market in order to maximize productivity realization
  • Partner with sectors to write automation CARs that meet the required hurdle rates
  • Support the capex approval process to ensure alfgnment with all approvers
  • Leverage strong problem-solving & ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking skills; to identify problems and conceptualize & develop solutions with alternatives based on cost/benefit analysis
  • Alignment of global and sector AOP and PSP



  • 10+ years of experience working in Supply Chain, including warehousing
  • Must have a strong executive presence and maturity to influence a broad spectrum of positions ranging from VP leadership to front line associates in order to drive the productivity agenda. The role includes significant change management and demands a strong collaborative approach. These attributes are very important since the individual will be dealing with multiple cultures, a highly diverse customer base and local/regional uniqueness that must be considered in order to adapt to those environments for best in class performance
  • Must have a strong background in all aspects of Warehouse Operations. (Transportation background is beneficial, but not necessary)
  • Provide Warehousing expertise to Sector/Market resources across a broad array of projects. Examples include warehouse direct and indirect labor, waste, daily warehouse shift level efficiency, MHE optimization, technology advancement, warehouse layout and design to name a few
  • Must be able to operate autonomously long distances from support group and manager
  • Self-starter, high capacity for managing multiple work streams at the same time in multiple sectors/geographies
  • Strong analytical and fact based problem solving skills
  • Experience with driving global productivity initiatives, including interacting and engaging the field teams as key stakeholders is a plus
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven track record as change agent, with the ability to bring a sense of urgency for change to the business
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time for both domestic and international
