Job Description

This position is part of the Ingredient Discovery and Application team, which is part of the PepsiCo Global Beverage Research and Development organization. In the role of Senior Technician, you will be responsible for supporting research projects involving the discovery and application of new sugar reduction tools targeted for improving the quality of reduced-calorie beverages.

Responsibilities include:
  • Conduct research on sugar reduction tools and beverage constituents with the goals of improving product quality, driving innovation and productivity
  • Prepare beverage prototypes and coordinate efficacy testing via sensory and analytical analysis
  • Compile, organize and summarize research data clearly and concisely
  • Document and archive research data and summaries in an organized fashion
  • Collaborate as a team member to drive D&A throughput efficiencies
  • Ensure laboratory equipment functions properly and maintain laboratory ingredient and consumable stocks
  • Coordinate sample submission to internal or third-party laboratories
Key Challenges:
  • Ability to work in the fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment across all Ingredient Discovery and Applications research platforms
  • Ability to work flexibly as the position supports numerous scientists on the Ingredient Discovery and Applications team

Qualifications/Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemistry or Food Science with at least one year of industry experience
  • Excellent technical bench skills for a quantitative sample and stock solution preparation
  • Experience preparing beverage and syrup samples
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint functionality
  • A team player that assumes ownership of assignments using sound project planning and time management skills
  • Open-minded, innovative, take initiative, and a practical problem-solver
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities at one time
