Job Description

The Accounting Operations Manager is responsible for accounting for a range of areas within PBC and ensures the accuracy of the PBC financial statements. Activities could cover a range of areas – Controllable Costs, Trade Spend, COGS, A&M, and Fixed Assets. This role contributes to the success of Pepsi Beverages Company (PBC) by performing close processes for PBC and supporting various teams i.e. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams; Sales; Supply Chain operations. Role coordinates total PBC financial analyses for P&L and Balance Sheet activity and prepares support for requests of both internal and external auditors.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage period, quarter and annual closing of the financial statements
  • Review and analyze P&L results for accuracy and completeness utilizing metrics and trends including comparisons to the prior period, prior year, forecast, and plan
  • Review periodic balance sheet reconciliations and schedules, as well as quarterly balance sheet analytics to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Cash flow forecasting of balance sheet accounts for which they oversee
  • Ensure all data entered into supporting sub-ledger systems (i.e. NIS, TPM, OFA, etc.) is accurate and complete
  • Focus on accuracy to minimize the impact on period close results and avoid risk/opportunity on the balance sheet
  • Manage annual AOP process with PBC FP&A, Operations and Divisions for input points needed in supported sub-ledgers (i.e. NIS, TPM, OFA, etc.)
  • Manage the team’s daily/weekly activities and close related processes including ensuring all PBC period close and accelerated close deadlines are met
  • Work with various teams to ensure established deadlines are met during the period close
  • Manage ongoing maintenance of data inputs into a sub-ledger system (i.e. NIS, TPM, OFA, etc.)
  • Manage all required system testing
  • Communicate all risk/opportunity identified to senior management
  • Build strong relationships with related partners (i.e., Planning, Divisions, Operations, IT, Global Procurement) and act as a key liaison between groups
  • Act as the department lead in orchestrating SOX testing and related reporting to senior management
  • Manage and coach a team daily. Team size can range from 2 to twelve people
  • Support, coordinate and lead accounting productivity and optimization initiatives via identifying areas of opportunity for automation and process simplification by applying the latest technology​
  • Potential oversight of outsourced activities (i.e. Alight, GFSS, IBM)


  • Bachelors in Accounting; CPA a plus
  • At least 8 - 10 years of prior experience
  • Prior experience with sub-ledger systems a plus
  • Prior experience managing personnel
  • Strong user skills in Excel is a must for a person in this position
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, SAP and Business Objects
  • Ability to interact confidently with various levels of functional leadership
  • Ability to solve complex problems, manage projects and prioritize workload
  • Beverage industry experience
