Job Description

The individual selected will be responsible for providing guidance and leadership to Quality technicians, Operations, and Warehouse team members. Manage 24/7 quality operations for a 9 line manufacturing plant and 900K Sq.ft Distribution Center to include sanitation, CIP, Microbiology Laboratory and misc. responsibilities ensuring food safety and compliance with AIB, FSSC 22000, QAS, etc.

  • Provide leadership and training for development to the Quality technicians and team
  • Manage and develop hourly and/or salaried direct reports
  • Provide Quality leadership training to Operations team members on Corporate Quality Foundational prerequisites
  • Effectively manage sanitation chemical inventory, usage, application, and audits of CIPs and sanitation practices
  • Lead continuous improvement processes through capability studies, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Manage contracted third-party companies to ensure quality standards are maintained
  • Address Sanitation and Housekeeping issues and implement corrective action and improvements to the sanitation process with minimum interruption to Operations
  • Manage the Sanitation and Housekeeping review process, initiate program changes, follow certification processes, and audit for compliance
  • Understand and convey manufacturing risks with relation to Food Safety issues, housekeeping compliance, and sanitation chemical applications
  • Utilize data to contribute to the overall comprehensive Quality management plan
  • Manage day to day Microbiology Lab operations
  • Prioritize multiple demands from different departments to effectively direct the Quality team on short, medium, and long term objectives

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 3 years minimum in a food manufacturing environment
  • BS in Science field and/or technical equivalent
  • Have basic knowledge of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, compliance, execution, reporting results, and follow-up
  • Possess an understanding of the Food and Beverage manufacturing environment to include thermal processing, housekeeping requirements, sanitation processes, and Food Safety standards
  • Basic understanding of Microbiology
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • LSS experience preferred
  • SAP requisitioning strongly preferred
Must be willing and able to travel <5% of the time
