PepsiCo Nordics Market Unit (MU) has offices in Helsinki, Copenhagen and Oslo and belongs to the North-West Europe (NWE) cluster (BNLX + Nordics MU). We are proud to hold leading market positions for Pepsi Max, Doritos, Tropicana and Quaker. We are a market and sales service organization that work very closely with local bottlers and distributors. The business is complex as our products span the whole PepsiCo portfolio serving approximately 27 million inhabitants, spread across five countries.

Main objective
The Nordic Category Director plays a critical role in leading PepsiCo’s Franchise agenda with responsibility for growing Volume, Share & Profit of all PepsiCo’s Beverage trademarks by managing the relationship between PepsiCo & their Bottlers. It’s a high profile role reporting directly to the Nordic GM. The role will have full P/L responsibility for PepsiCo’s Beverage trademarks in the Nordics and will deliver results by working closely with senior stakeholders as well as the broader leadership team (LT).

  • Managing 5 markets from Commercial and Marketing perspective (Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) and 3 bottlers (Royal Unibrew, Carlsberg and Ölgerðin)
  • 5 Categories – CSD, Energy, Sports Drinks & Iced Tea
  • Interacts with key executives of Nordic bottlers, NWE team, Franchise Function, Global and Regional PEP executives
Primary accountabilities
  • Lead and manage the annual operating plans within each Nordic market and ensure financial deliveries. Ensure alignment with bottlers, Europe social beverages category and MU leadership team on marketing and sales priorities. Initiate corrective action to deliver planned performance.
  • Ensure all key marketing initiatives are fully supported in the sales plans by appropriate distribution footprint and 4P initiatives.
  • Identify and articulate market growth opportunities. Develop and drive strategic social beverages agenda across portfolio, innovation, bottling network, governance, sustainable supply chain, productivity and organizational capabilities
  • Set the category agenda and ensure alignment with the bottlers throughout the planning processes by annually creating a signed agreement which articulates our operating strategies, material commitments and KPIs in line with our system 3 year plan
  • Represent MU at key category forums and ensure Europe category is aligned to local MU strategy and requirements
  • Ensure brand support needs & timelines are identified and managed consistently with global, sector, regional or Europe social beverages category directives
  • Work with Nordic HR Manager to lead, manage and develop the social beverages team completing people planning process as directed including coordination and communication of HR agenda
  • Work with GM, CFO and Operations Manager to support Nordics AOP, SBP, forecasting and reporting requirements
  • Develop and maintain working relationship with key executives within each bottler while evolving governance principles. Define GTM strategy and requirements. Lead/govern strategic projects required to enable Category strategy
  • Collaborate productively in the matrix: MU LT, Nordic bottlers, NWE team, Franchise Function, Global and Regional PEP executives


Experience required

  • Education: University Degree MBA
  • Excellent English
  • +10 years’ leading edge FMCG Sales and Marketing experience gained in blue-chip consumer business
  • In depth familiarity with the Nordic retail environment and consumer trends
  • Significant team leadership experience with proven track record
  • Previous P/L management responsibility with proven track record
  • Strong negotiation skills & experience in delivering in complex environment
  • +5 years of experience in a variety of marketing roles with proven track record in brand management & activation
  • Experienced in developing NPD Channel / customer sales plans:- Full mix development: packaging, pricing strategy, marketing / sales support plans
  • Strong commercial knowledge and a proven commercial track record including strategic thinking, brand positioning, advertising, consumer promotions, media planning and buying and sales
  • Revenue Management: strong understanding of consumer/shopper insights & tools to develop 4P solutions & be able to commercialise to drive execution advantage
  • Proven track record in leading large scale change projects and pushing forward product innovation
  • Strategically savvy with proven track record
