Main Purpose:

Contribute to PepsiCo's success by improving the policy landscape to support our business, address and mitigate regulatory risks and maintain our license to operate.


  • Eliminate near term obstacles to PepsiCo’s competitiveness an growth by:
    1. Influence policy makers to avoid or mitigate adverse, arbitrary or non-science based legislation, regulation and other actions including:
      • Unjustified food safety actions and public health policies (e.g., warning labels, bans, advisories, point of sale restrictions, ingredients or marketing)
      • Discriminatory taxation
      • Environmental regulations (e.g. plastics, emissions, water)
      • Duties, quotas & tariffs that impede the free flow of goods
      • Labor-related actions
      • Restrictive competition policies and M&A challenges.
  • Manage long-term policy risks and opportunities to promote business growth by:
    1. Partner with government, business and thought leaders for public policy decisions favorable to sustainable, responsible business growth, e.g.:
      • Corporate tax policy
      • Commodity prices
      • Open markets and free and fair trade
      • Litigation environment
      • Security environment for our operations
    2. Identify and control for political risks
  • Support PepsiCo in being part of the solution to nutrition, health & wellness challenges:
    1. Champion responsible marketing to children, internally & externally.
    2. Advocate for product labeling that helps consumers make informed choices.
    3. Advance policies and programs that promote healthy lifestyles and address malnutrition issues.
    4. Forge partnerships that increase credibility and promote collaborative solutions.
  • Support PepsiCo’s leadership on agricultural and environmental sustainability:
  1. Shape agro and environmental policy agenda as it relates to our businesses.
  2. Engage with governments and NGOs in pursuing collaborative solutions, including addressing food security issues.
  • Provide support to internal stakeholders through expertise on public affairs, key policies as well as present and future risks:
  1. Issue recommendations, assessments and policy memos.
  2. Promote and support the engagement of senior management with government officials and other stakeholders.
  3. Protect and enhance corporate reputation.
  4. Guarantee, awareness of the external environment on key internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure coordination with Legal, PepsiCo foundation, Internal and External Comms, Sustainability, and the pertaining functions to prevent and address current and future risks from a comprehensive perspective.


  • BA or equivalent (Master’s degree desired): Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, and Law.
  • 7 years of experience in either government, public affairs, communications, or public relations.
  • Solid written and oral communication and presentation skills- both in English (100%) and Spanish to individuals and groups.
  • Capable of working under pressure and challenging situations demonstrating both diplomacy and tact.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of public affairs.
  • A demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion and its practical application and integration in the work environment.
  • The strategic thinking and intellectual capability to manage and contribute to complexity of open critical fronts.
  • A natural networker. Excellent influencing and negotiating skills with internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to engage with senior- level government officials, NGO’s and industry and trade organizations.
  • Strong drive; innovative and goal oriented; pro-active and responsive with strong leadership.
  • A strong team player with inter-personal and inter-cultural sensitivity, able to work well across functions, reporting lines & geographies.
  • Availability to travel.
