Main purposes:
In this role you are responsible to lead and co-ordinate the design of specific capital projects for Europe. This requires civils and/or utilities and infrastructure experience, ensuring compliance to PepsiCo and Country specific standards and legal requirements. Project values can range from $50m to $220MM

  • You provide technical expertise and support the delivery of projects and site based teams, demonstrating functional & business expertise to identify scope, providing URS’s, technical drawings and accurate costings of the building and utilities equipment.

  • Applying Lean Design principles to reduce investment & operating costs for driving sustainable profit growth.

  • In conjunction with the Global Low Cost Capital (LCC) team ensure that all civils and utilities projects use best practices to achieve fit for purpose low cost solutions.

  • You will work with the appointed LCC consultants to develop the LCC Factory of the Future vision

  • You share a point of view within Europe to support the further development of Low Cost Capital solutions, actively reviewing the latest developments in the construction industry and ensuring country specific conditions are both observed and used.

Primary accountabilities:

  • Provide technical capability for the design and supporting the execution of major civils and utilities projects for food manufacturing sites (raw material storage, production facilities and warehousing)

  • Provide alternatives for construction projects design, project management and implementation. For each major construction project across the sector, in terms of cost, quality, control, time, country specific appropriateness etc. to enable the local team to include the most effective (cost/quality/time) structure into the Capex.

  • Provide technical expertise to support the LCC agenda for civils and utilities in Europe.

  • Provide support / expertise to build field engineering capability

  • Provide technical expertise to develop and maintain the PepsiCo International Civil Engineering and Building Services and Utilities Standards – ensuring that they are relevant, up to date and applied on all relevant projects across the division.

  • Ensure Engineering Change Management is applied to ensure the designs remain up-to-date and to the latest standard.

  • At the pre-Capex conceptual design stage, review every project across the division which involves construction work or expansion of facilities and building systems (with a value likely to exceed US$500m), to ensure the necessary procedures, project management and construction practices are being included into the Capex.

  • Working with the Sustainability and Transformational productivity teams, develop the PepsiCo International Standards and Specifications to include design alternatives, materials selection and utilities equipment efficiency KPIs. These specifications should identify the ‘no debates’ and those options which have an initial capital cost implication and the potential benefits. Scan the environment for innovations and leveraging both external and internal expertise to deliver construction technology and utilities efficiency development.

  • Ensure all new construction or expansion projects have been reviewed for compliance with FM Global standards both in terms of design and execution.

  • Ensure that all projects executions are in line with all Food Safety Requirements, BRC and AIB standard methodologies for construction, as well as RECON and EMS targets.



Your profile

  • In depth knowledge of civils and utilities engineering technologies and knowledge of engineering projects management across multiple disciplines (Mech/Elec/HVAC) with thorough understanding of Legal, Quality &Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements to ensure the safe design of projects across Europe.
  • Must have significant hands-on design experience
  • ​Experience of working in the food industry and food safety standards essential
  • Ability to work with front line to senior Director level within the European organization and with multiple functions internally (Operations, Plants, Customer Service & Logistics, capacity planning, productivity teams, R&D, Commercialisation, Global, etc.)
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical discipline, with (preferably) experience in FMCG foods manufacturing.
