Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Position Summary: This is a supervisor position, performing the work of and
providing daily supervision to the Maintenance Department engaged in all operational aspects of the production equipment by planning, scheduling, supervising in performing routine and assigned work, preventative maintenance, repair work on all production equipment and support equipment. This position works closely with the maintenance team in conjunction with other departments to identify and schedule work. The ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and requests, and meet deadlines in a professional manner is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, supervise, and direct the work of personnel engaged in day-to-day
maintenance of production equipment and support systems
• Manage, maintain, and use Infor work order system
• Prioritize work, set work standards and inspect work in progress and upon
completion for completeness and accuracy
• Determine maintenance needs of facility equipment, arrange for storage of
parts and equipment used in work
• Respond to off-hour critical calls to resolve plant issues, carry the emergency
contact phone.
• Provide labor assistance to various craft workers
• Maintain routine records and prepare reports
• Supervise Maintenance Department employees in accord with company policies
and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and
directing work, performance evaluation, rewarding and disciplining, addressing
complaints and resolving problems
• Manage departmental budgets
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance metrics and audit PMs
• Contract and coordinate the work of vendors
• Foster a respectful, collaborative work environment with coworkers, other
departments and vendors
• Order parts and equipment
• Use databases and scheduled meetings to identify, communicate, and plan
workload including scheduling, implementation, equipment, and inventory needs
for routine and event-specific tasks
• Resolve scheduling, implementation, equipment, and inventory issues
Other Duties
• Step in for other maintenance workers as needed in urgent circumstances
• Attend staff and management meetings as needed
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other management

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Five years of experience in plant maintenance work with an emphasis on repair
and maintenance of manufacturing equipment or a combination of
experience, training and education which will be evaluated on an individual basis for
comparability that is transferable skills
2. Two years of supervisory experience
3. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets technical journals, financial reports, and legal
documents
4. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory
agencies or members of the business community
5. Ability to write clearly and concisely to give direction and information and document
work needed and/or completed
6. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to
practical situations
7. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
8. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
9. Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
9. Strong leadership skills
10. Willing and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays
11. Can work on own as well as part of a team
