What does the internship involve?

We are looking for a curious analyst intern who will strengthen our Category Management & Analytics departments for 6 months, from August 2020 onwards. If you enjoy analyzing business performance data, often wonder why people behave in the way they do, and are keen to translate these insights into strategies and initiatives based on category-, retail-, and shopper insights, you might be the perfect intern to join our team.

As a Category Management & Analytics intern you support the team in both Category growth initiatives at our customers and internal PepsiCo projects. You will work with Nielsen customer data and GFK household panel data to conduct both structural and ad-hoc analysis on performance, assist in conducting extended category deep dives and in-store research, analyze how consumers behave on the shop floor and identify threats and opportunities within the categories. Based on the outcomes you will translate your insights gained into recommendations for both the retailers and PepsiCo. You will also look into the performance of specific brands and ensure that new products are tracked in the correct manner.

To be successful in this role, you need to be curious to understand what causes changes in performance. You also need to be capable to run accurate analyses. Furthermore, you should like to take initiative and run projects independently. You should also have strong communication skills, since you need to interact with other departments and get your insights and recommendations across in a consistent and unified manner. You will report into the Business Analytics Lead, but will also have a strong link with the Category Management Team to support on both their internal and retailer initiatives, while also collaborating frequently with colleagues in departments like marketing and sales for cross-functional projects.

Qualifications/Requirements

You are someone who:

  • is an WO Bachelor’s or Master’s student, or has graduated (max. 3 months) with an affinity towards Marketing, Business, Communication, Sociology, Economics and research;
  • Strong analytical skills and enjoys making analyses with an interest in shopper and consumer behaviour;
  • likes to take initiative and can work independently;
  • has strong communication skills since you will be in contact with all departments within the organisation;
  • has the organizational skills and perseverance to steer projects in the right direction;
  • has competence in Excel and PowerPoint;
  • is fluent in English;
  • you have genuine interest in how the company operates in this area and are keen on keeping track of the latest developments in the world of digitalization.
