Job Description

Position Summary: This position is responsible for processing the payroll, commissions and basic expenses for all frontline employees.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, audits and imports a high volume of time data into Kronos and SAP Payroll/Timekeeping systems in a timely manner
  • Manages pay and accrual rule assignment
  • Maintains employee records in the Company’s Commission tracking system
  • Completes weekly roster analysis to ensure rate and rule compliance
  • Processes commission and overtime/variable overtime data to compensate employees
  • Inputs and processes mileage and miscellaneous reimbursements
  • Verifies data and checks information for accuracy
  • Works with leadership to resolves employee timesheets discrepancies
  • Ensures time entries and compensation meet regulatory compliance, State/Federal laws and Company policy
  • Works with Company leaders and Human Resources staff to process reports, obtain approvals, submit off-cycle payments, and process final pay
  • Generate and review payroll reports for accuracy and compliance prior to distribution
  • Monitors and maintains paid time off accrual and banked time when applicable
  • Ad hoc requests and special projects
  • Promptly responds to requests and inquiries from employees
  • Role based in Sacramento but negotiable based on candidate of choice

Qualifications/Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of payroll and report processing
  • Experience using data warehouse and/or HCM/payroll/automated timekeeping programs such as Kronos and SAP
  • Knowledge of State, Federal and other regulatory requirements for payroll and wage/hour
  • Demonstrated ability supporting teams of 400-600 employees
  • Intermediate proficiency using MS Excel or other spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and to complete projects and assignments independently
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to perform the following:
    • Process simple mathematical problems manually or using a calculator
    • Read and communicate in English
    • Sit for long periods of time
    • Work with and in front of a computer and multiple monitors for long periods of time
    • Use a keyboard to enter large amounts of data into computer
    • Solve problems independently
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
    • Must be able to focus and maintain a strong attention to detail
    • Work a flexible work schedule as dictated by business needs

Valued but not required skills and experience:
  • 2-3 years of multi-state payroll processing
  • 2-3 years of previous experience using SAP
  • Advanced proficiency or certification in MS Excel
