Building Maintenance Technician (Full-time/Days)

Job Description

$22.03 per hour

A skilled position for a self motivated individual responsible for maintenance and repair of a production facility. The Building Maintenance Technician will diagnose problems, use own judgment and input from maintenance and warehouse leadership to determine how best to repair. Position works unsupervised most of the time and also as part of a team in a manufacturing environment. May require lifting, carrying, and moving 50 pounds.

Position occasionally requires working overtime and weekends. Requires working at heights, kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling and bending when making repairs, often in low places. Position at times will require using scissor lift and forklift.

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance on building plumbing, electrical, fencing, painting, concrete and HVAC
  • Make building repairs and recommendations and decisions
  • Build strong working relationships with contractors and vendors
  • Remove and replace old plumbing and electrical fixtures
  • Perform maintenance of fire extinguisher, fire alarms and other safety equipment
  • Will be point of contact for fire alarm calls
  • Maintain eye wash stations
  • Perform all assigned preventive and corrective work orders
  • Maintain parts inventory
  • Complete relevant paperwork
  • Maintain and repair recycle equipment
  • Maintain wastewater pumps and related equipment
  • Maintain CO2 equipment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 18 years or older
  • Pass the drug test and background check
  • Have a valid drivers license
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Experience working with hand and power tools
  • Experience working with at least three of the following areas: HVAC, electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, hydraulics
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and via email
  • Must work collaboratively with others at all levels of the organization

 

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with basic HVAC systems (understanding refrigeration cycle, compressors, evaporators, condensers, controls etc.)
  • Experience working with electrical systems (reading schematics, basic wiring of outlets and lighting, etc.)
  • Experience working with plumbing (e.g., working with drains, water supply, shut-off valves, sweating copper, threading steel and stainless steel pipe, gluing pvc pipe etc.)
  • Experience with welding, (mig, tig and stick arc)
  • Experience working with concrete
  • Experience working with moving equipment (forklifts, hand trucks, etc.)
  • Experience working under limited supervision (performing job duties without constant direction and supervision)
  • Experience working in team based environments (collaborating with others)
  • Painting with pressurized paint equipment as well as brush and roller
  • Proficient experience in Microsoft Office, email and computer skills
