Recruitment of JMOs is a key focus among our broader military talent strategy. JMOs are a dynamic pool of leaders that know how to make strategic decisions under fire. They define diversity, accountability, and action to deliver results. JMOs bring a unique set of experiences and attributes that are highly valued by our organization:

As the largest food and beverage business in North America, we have a large infrastructure. The breadth of opportunity that PepsiCo offers the JMO is unique given our global scale and portfolio of brands. JMOs are currently succeeding in many roles across PepsiCo, but a hiring focus remains in Supply Chain and Sales.

Once select candidates successfully complete the interview process they will be provided an on-boarding plan and a JMO mentor to support their transition from military life. Key critical experiences and development plans will be addressed for the career path specific to each JMO. Additionally, candidates are encouraged to participate in the PepsiCo Valor network, an employee resource group comprised of veterans or employees who value and support veterans.

With a history of demonstrated results, and high-quality feedback from managers and business leaders as their foundation, our JMO hires can set 'future business leaders' as their next objective.

Preferred Selection Criteria:

  • Honorable Discharge
  • Minimum 3.0 undergrad GPA with no graduate degree
  • Minimum 2.8 undergrad GPA with graduate degree GPA 3.5 or greater
  • Minimum four years commissioned service (Maximum 10 years)
  • Excellent service record, including responsibilities, leadership experience, and evaluation reports
  • Maximum of two years separation from active duty; waived if due to pursuing higher education.

At PepsiCo, we support our U.S. service members in many different ways. From working with national organizations like the USO to impacting individual service members' and their families' lives, we are committed to giving back to those who protect our freedoms and sacrifice for the good of the country.


PepsiCo created an employee resource group named VALOR, whose mission is to recognize, appreciate and support PepsiCo's veterans, military members, their families, and the communities in which they live and work. The organization was created to establish local VALOR groups to reach out to their individual communities and support all of our service members. We have taken active roles in Fleet Week, the USO's Annual 9/11 Remembrance Walk and Carry the Load.

Dream Machine

Our Dream Machine Recycling Initiative aims to increase the U.S. recycling rate from 34% to 50% by 2018. The more bottles and cans recycled through the Dream Machine program, the more support PepsiCo provides to the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), a national program offering free, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 veterans with disabilities so that our nation's heroes can make their own dreams come true. PepsiCo has committed to donating $500,000 a year to EBV and an additional $250,000 for every 10 million pounds of material collected.

USO (United Service Organization)

Since 2010, in conjunction with the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, PepsiCo has honored U.S. military heroes by partnering with the USO and bringing a piece of home to service members deployed during the holiday season. The “Connect to Home Bowl” and “Salute the Troops Bowl” each brought the College Football experience to the frontline troops by giving them a chance to play flag football with former college football all-stars.

We also played a part in reuniting troops serving in Iraq with their families during the halftime show of the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game. Four different families took part in the surprise and emotional reunion seen by millions of viewers around the country.

The company has also directly impacted the lives of our troops in many ways. In one example, PepsiCo partnered with the USO to deliver new bicycles to the children of deployed service members from Fort Monmouth, N.J. as part of PBC Gives Back Days.

Ross Brown, Business Development (USAF) career possibilities

Ross Brown

Business Development (USAF)

Prior to joining PepsiCo in the summer of 2010, Ross served as a Major in the Unites States Air Force overseeing Special Projects & Programs for an Air Force Special Tactics Squadron while working in a Joint Special Operations environment. Today Ross serves as a liaison between the Pepsi Brand Marketing Team & the Pepsi Beverage Field Sales Teams.

The Business Development role and responsibilities include leading the development of selling tools and materials for all Carbonated Soft Drink Marketing Initiatives and Promotions. Additionally you will manage Retail Account Specific Programming to support Carbonated Soft Drink brand and package launches and initiatives. In addition to, providing input into the design and development of Marketing Initiatives to meet beverage category and brand requirements, ensuring alignment with channel selling strategies and priorities. You will also be responsible for providing Carbonated Soft Drink brand and/or category expertise and analysis to enhance sales opportunities and achieve selling objectives.

Tom Durkin, Account Manager (USAF) career possibilities

Account Manager (USAF)

Prior to joining PepsiCo in the summer of 2010, Tom served as a Captain in the United States Air Force leading a 175-person Aircraft Maintenance Unit responsible for launching, recovering and maintaining KC-135 aircraft. Today, Tom serves as the Quaker Snacks National Account Manager for the Target Corporation Account.

The Account Manager role and responsibilities include selling and executing strategies to assigned accounts. You will manage key customer relationship to include negotiating customer agreements that deliver against annual operating plans while successfully meeting customer expectations. You will analyze business trends and develop strategic account plans in order to create sales proposals yielding profitable account development and growth.

Noel Rodriguez, Category Manager (USA) career possibilities

Prior to joining PepsiCo in the 2010, Noel served as an Armor Captain in the United States Army where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and held various leadership positions for operational and training units. Currently, Noel is a Category Manager responsible for Insights and Analytics directly supporting regional large format grocery customers in the Northeast.

The Category Manger role and responsibilities include collaborating with retailers and internal PepsiCo sales teams to provide category analysis, objective insight and action plans to grow revenue and market share for a diverse portfolio of PepsiCo categories. Build and maintain strong relationships with your customers through valuable and objective insight in developing strategies. Utilize research and testing to identify marketplace trends and opportunities. You will ultimately develop category plans and programs that meet retailer and sales objectives, and present strategic insights to multiple levels of your customers organizations.

Kristopher Erickson, Manufacturing Resource (USA) career possibilities

Kristopher Erickson

Manufacturing Resource (USA)

Currently, Kristopher is responsible for people and team development utilizing Frito-Lay's Continuous Improvement (CI) process to achieve results in the areas of cost, quality, safety and service. He is leading a team of 15 to 20 Technicians in production and packaging. Prior to joining PepsiCo Kristopher was in his last year of Active Duty in the U.S. Army.

The Manufacturing Resource role and responsibilities include leading a team of 15 to 30 hourly associates with varying levels of experience and education. You are responsible for people and team development, quality performance, cost, service and safety. Additionally you will develop individuals and the team to solve operational issues, motivate the team to achieve performance targets and organize and facilitate team meetings to achieve continuous productivity improvements. Coach team members to use the process and facilitate problem solving on the floor. Administer policies and procedures. Initiate and implement projects.

John Valdes, Warehouse Operations Resource (USAF) career possibilities

John Valdes

Warehouse Operations Resource (USAF)

John currently serves in the United States Air Force Reserves as a program manager within nuclear munitions and aircraft maintenance where he was just recently promoted to Major. Prior to joining PepsiCo John was a Captain in the Air Force, stationed in Salt Lake City, UT as the Cryptographic Upgrade Program Manager responsible for cost and schedule of a $195 million Nuclear Coding program.

The Warehouse Operations Resource role and responsibilities include leading a team of 10 to 15 hourly associates with varying levels of experience and education. You will be responsible for people and team development, quality performance, cost, service and safety. You will develop individuals and the team to solve routine operational issues. Additionally you will motivate the team to achieve established performance targets. Organizes and facilitates team meetings utilizing the CI performance process. Coach team members to use the performance process on the floor, administer policies and procedures and implement continuous improvement projects. You may conduct presentations and formal training.
